Sean went to Esperanza HS, earned 1st team All-League and All-County honors and signed to UC Davis on a baseball scholarship.

After a year at Davis, he was led back to Orange County to play at Saddleback College. Just before the spring season of 2006, Sean decided to put his baseball career in the hands of the Lord.

That season, he went on to become the Triple Crown winner (leader in AVG, HR, and RBI), Conference Player of the Year, and 1st Team All-American. He then signed with Pepperdine University.

In June, the Washington Nationals drafted him in the 8th round of the 2006 MLB First Year Player DraftSean was named a South Atlantic League All-Star in 2008 in Low A with the Hagerstown Suns.  his love for the Lord increased, his desire to pursue the Big League Dream began to subside.

On January 11th, 2009, his father, Bill, and his older brother, Patrick, were tragically killed in a plane crash in Steamboat Springs, CO. They were traveling back from a trip of renovating a barn on site of Sean and Jana’s wedding to take place the upcoming September. This life-altering event sparked a flame in him and the Rooney Family to make a life-altering impact on others.

After Sean played for AAA Syracuse in 2010, he stepped away from playing the game knowing and trusting that God would place him where he could be most impactful.

In 2011, he and his younger brother, Colin, spoke at local FCA campus huddles to over 1,000 high school athletes. At those FCA campus huddles was where Sean realized how impactful his story truly was and how much fulfillment came with leading someone to Christ.
